Introducing Natalie Jackson Demographics
![]() |
Dr Natalie Jackson* holds a PhD in Demography from the Australian National University, and Master of Social Science and Bachelor of Social Science degrees in Demography and Social Anthropology from the University of Waikato. Her primary expertise is on population ageing and the subnational ending of population growth. The underlying demographic drivers and consequences of these trends — which underpin the supply and demand of people — are relevant for all levels of government, business, the labour market, the welfare state, education and health care. Natalie's other research fields are the demography of subpopulations such as ethnic groups, and the demography of inequality. |

During her academic career Natalie taught and supervised at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and gave training workshops on demographically-related topics in Australia and New Zealand. She authored over 200 papers and technical reports on the topic of population ageing/demographic change and gave around 360 invited addresses/conference papers and 440 media interviews. In 2015 Natalie created Natalie Jackson Demographics Ltd (now simply Natalie Jackson Demographics), under the auspices of which she has continued to undertake demographic research for a wide range of organisations and agencies, and to provide online training, mentoring and supervision. Since retiring in 2022 she has enjoyed expanding on earlier work and pursuing new research areas, data and analysis from which will be posted on this site as it is completed. |
